I want a money tree and or legs of a feather:
The Coastal Challenge: Rain forest Run
2013 This is going to happen. No if. Ands. Coolo. about it.
Runners from all over the world will compete against each other in one of the most challenging and visually stunning trail running events on the planet. The course will take competitors on an unforgettable journey through dramatic and varied terrain.
Half of the course is set in Costa Rica’s driest area in the remote and rugged Northwestern coast and volcanic regions, through inland lakes, windswept highlands, jungle and tropical dry forest, beach and reefs. While the other half is in rainforest or cloud forest and hill country. You’ll finish near the border of Nicaragua in a one of the most windy bays in Costa Rica and a kite surfing Mecca.
Terrain:
jungle and rain forest trails, rough and winding dirt roads, farm roads, mountain trail and some single track across ridge lines, passes and highlands; beaches and rocky outcroppings or reefs, dry tropical forest and rain forest, open lands including river/water crossings and more..

The full race/run looks like 155 miles over 6 days. It's really expensive but can you fathom the life experience!! I'll have to maintain a 15 min mile and it's over all types of services. If I could do one thing in the next year it would be this. Travel, run.. run HARD should I say. I'm not sure of all the logistics, I found this at 3am last night when I couldn't sleep but I'm going to do everything in my power to make this happen.
They have a team comp as well. I would like to do the team challenge but I think it's 3 or more people run all the stages or something. SO if anyone out there wants to run this.. and has a deep bank account OR sponsor's let a sista know!!
My heart skips a beat looking at these photos and thinking about what these runners must feel around day three.
OK so back to reality with my first 50K a week and a few days away LOL yeah right Brandi.. but hey if you don't dare to dream you'll never experience life!!!
I'm getting stoked mostly ready for it to be here. I think it's like the marathon, you get that base level of fitness and lets see how fast/how much further (in my case) you can go. I really REALLY want to run this 50K and see what comes next. I can almost taste the pain that's to come and I'm as ready as I'm going to be. It's not about how fast or who you beat (I mean I'll never be world class) it's about the experience and the people around me who are making changes because in a VERY small part because of my never ending talk of running and the feeling it brings me.
I am so humbled to know a few co workers have started running, actually about to run their first 5Ks form a training plan I designed. Another few co workers have a few 5Ks under their belts and are getting better and better times on their weekly runs. My best friend is looking to run her first half marathon, and a couple friends find drive to just get out there and run a extra mile on a training run. That's what it's about. All of us being out there, on our feet, getting from one point to another. We train in the rain, heat, dark, light. We run while Christmas decorations are shining and we run when kids are out playing in the sprinklers. With each mile and each run it changes our feelings on life and most importantly on how we see ourselves.
All we can do is pray for swift feet and strong legs.
10 Days.
