Sunday: 0 miles
My relax day. I had it in my mind I’d go run but that didn’t happen. I woke up about 8 and headed to Panera bread for breakfast, coffee, and finally finished Once a Runner.
Very good book, I enjoyed most when he went to the cabin and just focused on his goal. I think there’s something to it. Last fall when all I did was work and run I felt like I grew so much stronger as a runner and person. It was ok it was just me and I didn’t look for anyone to fill the void in life. I was improving and getting faster that’s all I needed. I’m not really getting faster and I kind of feel a bit bogged down. I think I need something to look forward too. I would be pumped if had the cash flow to sign up for CR.. but I think that’s going to have to wait due to some cut backs at work. Wait meaning I’ll have to pay more later in the year but it’s still happening!
Oh well. The day ended with a little pool action and the Hunger games. The movie was good but left me with a lot of questions SOOOOO I went and bought the book of course!
Monday: 1 hour run 7ish miles Flat Rock Park.
Typically I do not run on Mondays nor after work. In fact I had planned on a nap and then to hit the roads. Much like life’s plan my running plans changed.
A friend wanted to run a hour so I met him at flat rock park. This park is anything but flat. I’ll run the roads for a hill workout and on Sundays for a easy trail run. It was a manageable pace and I felt good. It was nice to have the company in the heat. I think running with people faster than you will make you better. It holds you accountable to log the miles but keeps you at a honest pace. It was a very enjoyable run, I can’t think of the last time my body felt good and I was in such a good mood, everything from the miles logged, company/convo, shins didn’t hurt at all and my favorite the water break around mile 5. Cold but refreshing! My stomach started to act up around mile 6, last time I attempted to run with my buddy I had ALMOST yacked about mile 3.. this of course was after lots of drinks the night before SO I had to redeem myself and couldn’t let on I thought my insides were going to implode lol oh how I like running in the woods of a mountain rather than the park!
Either way after a quick bano break I felt like I could have ran more. I just didn’t want to stop. But like all things it’s better to end while you’re a head. I think next time a even 10 will be in the discussion. I didn’t feel well enough to have dinner so a little reading and I called it a night.
I’m headed to the gym and then for a run after work today followed by a group ride. Yes me I’m trying this bike thing out. Really it’s for the $2.50 beers and 10% off dinner afterwards ;)
Happy running and enjoy this weather!
